Brad 3 Ys of Advisory

Looking at Advisory using the 3Ys Protocol. a summary

Why does advisory matter to me?

Advisory is one of the areas I think I best show my strengths as a teacher. For the last three years, we have always been one of the most involved and active groups. We’ve done contests, played games with other advisories, run our own mindfulness activities, and gotten cool nicknames.

Why does advisory matter to my students and other teachers?

My advisees know that Mr. Brad gets things done. I try to make sure they’re some of the best informed students in the school about upcoming events, etc. I hope they can use this information to help their friends with course selection, etc. We often work with other teachers to do inter-advisory activities.

How does advisory impact the future?

I hope that my advisory leaves my students well prepared for life after high school in college or their jobs. We practice things like sending emails that they’ll have to use some day. For me personally, most schools don’t use advisory. If I move to another school someday, I think the principal will be really impressed if I tell them about the things we’ve done. Building relationships and teaching kids to be independent and reflective sounds like the kind of thing you say in a teacher interview.
