Good morning!

So I did a dumb thing over the weekend and I need to get my foot x-rayed today. I’d much rather be with you!!

PLEASE - I need to see you turning in your missing work! Use today to pick a task and turn it in - we reviewed your outstanding work on Friday. If you do not have any Ms for me, open the task called SS.2 opportunity (due 1/28) and work through it - this will finish the SS.2s for you!

You are ready to move on to the Milestone 2 Assessment in Task Dashboard. I will review the directions with you and you will work independently.

Happy Friday.

Today we complete the documentary All In: The Fight for Democracy.

  1. Collect your notes from the front of the room.

  2. After the film is over you will split into 2 groups:

  • If your notes have a checkmark on top, you are ready to move on to the Milestone 2 Assessment in Task Dashboard. I will review the directions with you and you will work independently.

-If your notes have a star on top - please move to a table with a group of other students who also have a star. Working together, complete the notes in the packet. Show me when you are done so that you can move on to the Milestone 2 Assessment. I will be joining each of these tables to help.

Good Morning!

Today is our last day to watch All In: The Fight for Democracy!

Complete your note packets, and leave them with Ms. Salter to review. Tomorrow you will be groups based upon who is ready to use their notes to begin their writing assignment and who needs to work with others to complete their notes.

For those who are voting in November, I have printed an article about the proposed removal of English as the Official Language in the City of Allentown. See me if you’d like a copy.

Today we will be moving on from people who choose not to vote to people who are prevented from voting.

  1. Collect a graphic organizer packet from the front of the room and review the questions. Be sure you have something to write with.

  2. For the next 2-3 days we will be watching a film: All In: The Fight for Democracy. You will use the Graphic Organizer packet to take notes. Make sure your name is on the packet - leave it here each day and collect it again at the start of class.

Good morning students!

  1. Today we are starting with our final discussion - Voting Rights in the US Territories. If you are joining in this discussion, please sit at the center table at the front of the classroom. Everyone else should be at the other tables in the room.

  2. Once the discussion is done we will be splitting into 2 groups.

If you participated in one of our 3 discussions, please work independently to complete and submit the Milestone 1 Stepping Stone 4 reflection.

If you did not participate in any of the discussions (if you have an M for preparation/participation in the Milestone 1 Assessment), you will be working in a small group with me.

Jose M and Roberto - please see me - you are eligible to register to vote!

Good Morning,

We cannot proceed with our discussions today because most students did not follow instructions yesterday. Almost no one signed up for the discussion topic, and only 4 students submitted their preparation notes.

After reviewing the ELA 6 Continua today you will complete and submit your preparation notes.

Those students who already completed all of their work will have a free period to do whatever they need to do for any class.

Reminder - there is NO MISSING ALLOWANCE in your portfolios. You must fill 100% of your SS and ELA portfolios to graduate.

Happy Tuesday

  1. Today we are moving on to Milestone 1, Stepping Stone 2. Please open the task in Task Dashboard.

  2. By the end of class today, you should have chosen one of the 3 topics and signed up for that topic. Your preparation for the discussion should be done using the argument organizer, and is due before class starts on Thursday.

  3. Many of you now have at least 2 missings in your portfolio because you have not yet turned in the Launch Milestone. You are responsible for completing this on your own time. Please see me if you need assistance.

  4. I will be calling some of you up to review your PLPs with me.

Good Morning!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Today - please open the Milestone 1 Stepping Stone 1 activity. You will work together with the students at your table to complete Activity 2 on the Stepping Stone Slide. Using the slideshow from Activity 1 nd the timeline resources in Activity 2, complete the Timeline Organizer (found under “What Have I learned.” You will work together, but every student should turn in their own copy of the organizer to this task.

Some examples of answers to “How did they receive the right to vote” would be: the 15th Amendment, the 19th Amendment, The Indian citizenship Act.

Some examples of “What strategies achieved the right to vote?” would be: going to court, passing a law, protests, Civil War.

You may leave the “Obstacles that still remain” column blank - we will come back to it together.

If you finish early please check for missing work and get caught up!

See you tomorrow :-)
