Good Morning,

Congratulations to those who attended office hours yesterday! Several students received ratings in ELA 6 (Collaborative Discussion) and other SS skills. Please check your dashboards for ratings, be sure to turn in your discussion reflections (Milestone 1 Stepping Stone 4), and share any documents with me that I have asked for!

Today you will continue your work on Milestone 5. I will be checking in with each of you on your progress.

Happy Monday!

Your goal today is to continue in Milestone 5, and to have a draft of an introduction ready for peer review by the end of class.

There will be several breakout rooms available to you today. If you are working independently on drafting your introduction and you do not need assistance, stay in the main room (in-person students do NOT need to log on to Zoom today).

If you need help, log in to the Zoom meeting and go to the “I need Help” room.

If you need a peer editor ( a student to exchange your introduction with and get feedback), please enter the “I need an editor” room.

Happy Friday!

We continue our work on Milestone 5 today. Today is a day to work independently.

Yesterday your goal was to at have a claim by the end of the day - That’s slide 38.

MANY STUDENTS DID NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON SLIDE 3. BEFORE CONTINUING TODAY YOU MUST ATTACH YOUR SLIDES TO THE TASK AND SAVE THE TASK (do not submit it!) SO THAT I CAN REVIEW YOUR PROGRESS.

Your goal today is to at least pull together the details that you need to begin drafting your introduction (Slide 46)

If you have written the first draft of your introduction (Slide 49) and need help finding a partner for peer editing, please let me know.

DO NOT FORGET: TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY!
We will be following a Wednesday Schedule tomorrow (office hours). On Wednesday we will follow a Tuesday Schedule!

Office Hours Tomorrow: The following Students are assigned to Office Hours (in my Zoom) at 9:45 tomorrow (Tuesday). We will complete Milestone 2 (Stepping Stone 1 and Assessment), for SS.1.4:

Amia, Nadayaih, Anthony C, Angel D, Eunice G, Miguel, Anthony L, Lemuel, Jose M, Javier, Jaylee, Maribel, Rachael, Alex, Elias, Angel S, Jessica, Lineyri.

Today we will be working together as a group- I will be introducing Milestone 5: The first step in your final argument paper. This step is worth 3 skills - SS.2.2, ELA.7.1, and ELA.3.1. When this step is over, you will have written the introduction to your argument essay.

Here’s today’s plan.

On Monday we will be starting the research/.SS.2 phase of preparing to write our Argument Papers. If your Social Studies tasks are caught up this will be very easy. If you are behind in Social Studies your work will become much harder.

Today you will choose your breakout room based upon a task that you need. These are your choices:

1) SS.2.1 Back to School Opportunity 2) Milestone 4 Assessment 3) Milestone 3 Stepping Stone 3 4) Advanced Opportunity SS.4 (only available to you if all other tasks are complete)

There are also rooms for students who need help choosing a task, and a 1-on-1 conference room that I will be pulling students into.

Look at your Task Dashboard, choose a task, and enter the Zoom Meeting. Select “Breakout Rooms” at the bottom of your screen and move to the room assigned to the task you have selected.

Students in breakout rooms may help each other, or you may work independently. Call for help if you need me, but I will be working 1-on-1 with students so you need to do your best to work independently. All of these tasks have been introduced and explained during class (which is why you NEED to attend). Ask a classmate for help before calling for me.

What Does Graduation Mean to You?

Seniors - we are down to 3 weeks of classes to complete your portfolios in Integrated Social Studies 4 (US Gov) and ELA 4.

Some of you have completed enough work to guarantee credit - but your final grades are still to be decided.

Some of you have not completed enough work in one or both of these classes - which means you will not walk at graduation and you will need to come to summer school to continue working on your tasks.

IT’S TIME TO DIG IN!

There are three things you can do to help yourself:
1) Come to class EVERY DAY - not just the days you are in person!
2) Work while you are in class! Turn something in EVERY DAY 3) Do not blow off Wednesdays!!! You are expected to use your time on Wednesday to complete tasks and to come to office hours. DO NOT IGNORE BEING ASSIGNED TO OFFICE HOURS. The students who came to office hours this week filled 2 boxes in the SS Portfolio - what did YOU accomplish on Wednesday.

EVERY CLASS PERIOD CAN BRING YOU 43 MINUTES CLOSER TO GRADUATION IF YOU DON’T WASTE IT!

Here’s today’s plan.

On Monday we will be starting the research/.SS.2 phase of preparing to write our Argument Papers. If your Social Studies tasks are caught up this will be very easy. If you are behind in Social Studies your work will become much harder.

Good morning!

(If you are having your Senior picture taken today please see me for your pass)

Today we will be finishing the Milestone 4 Assessment. Please open that task immediately and begin working. Please enter the Zoom meeting so that we can discuss answers.

**On Tuesday 5/18 (which is a remote learning day on the usual Wednesday Schedule due to the Election) I will be offering a Collaborative Discussion (ELA6) Opportunity using the Mandatory Voting Materials. You will be able to sign up for this later this week. * * *

(If you were working on a different task yesterday please continue with that task. If you finish this task early, please review your task dashboard and complete or revise an older task. See me if you have nothing to do.)

Office Hours Tomorrow at 9:45 (These are NOT optional): We will be completing the Launch Milestone for ratings in SS.3.1&3.2
